Palmós
- beach and diving
I
liked the experience of a weekend by the beach that I decided to repeat,
this time I went to Palamós . I left Barcelona early in the morning
and as soon as I got in Palamos I went straight to the dive center.
We arranged the equipment and went by boat to Cuevas del Eden
Rock, a dive site with caves. We went into 3 different caves.
For me it was good that in the caves we could see the way out. Since
I am claustrophobic that it is very important. It gives me the ideas
I am not tied up. As I know myself I didnt stay too long inside
the caves, I went into and out to the other site pretty fast, small
places really bother me.
After the dive I had lunch, went to the
hotel to leave my stuff and went to
the beach to take a nap. Great! I slept with the sounds of the sea.
By the end of the afternoon I walked by the beach. I stopped to see
a huge group of men and women dancing Sardana, the typical
dance from Catalonia.
It impressed me a lot here is the huge
number of seniors. The majority of people that I saw were older than
60. That it is really bizarre for me that I come from a country were
the life expectancy is 65 years old for men. This makes us not used
to see huge groups of seniors, specially dancing and having fun. Since
the retired pension in Brazil is not much money, they cant afford
to go on vacations. I liked to that here, and I had a sort of envy because
I which in my country it would be like that also: the seniors all happy
dancing.
Since I had to go back to Barcelona by noon, next day I woke up early
to walk on the beach and photograph. I stopped where there were many
groups of English teenagers learning water sports. Some were taking
windsurf classes and others sailing. I say there looking at them and
the time went by really
fast. I love to watch the sail on the sea. The idea of sailing fascinates
me.

I went back to Palamós on the
following Sunday to dive in the Boreas, a shipwreck. The
ship used to be from the German marine during the second world war.
In 89 it was immobilized in Palamós port for traffic of stupefacient
and it was submerged in the region.
The ship is in good shape and the visibility
was good, we could see the whole thing. The water was a little cold
for me, about 17° Celsius. As I like boats, I enjoyed the dive a
lot. (July 6,7,13th, 2003)
